National Black Marriage Day

COMPEL, is the sponsor of the Milwaukee celebration of National Black Marriage Day held on the last Sunday in March.

The 2011 event attracted 466 participants who renewed their wedding vows before family and friends at one of five Churches and then gathered at the Hyatt Hotel for an Evening Gala.

Recognized with proclamations from city, county and state governments, couples were honored for the example they set and the contributions they make to their families and our community. Couples ranged from newlyweds to those together for 64 years.

Most couples took advantage of workshops or a retreat weekend to revitalize their relationship before renewing their vows.
